If you thought DreamWorks characters haven’t been actualized enough in the world of interactive entertainment, or have failed to have been milked like some Disney or Pixar properties, then you need to think again. Activision is bringing some of your favorite DreamWorks' characters to home consoles and mobile game platforms this holiday season in a kart racing game not unlike the popular kart racing title featuring Mario characters.

David Oxford, Activision Publishing commented in the press release about the game, saying…

“We’ve brought together 14 of the most beloved characters from Shrek, Madagascar, How To Train Your Dragon and Monsters Vs. Aliens into one thrilling new kart racing game,” ... “For the first time ever, we’re giving fans a super star lineup of some of DreamWorks Animation’s most famous characters!”

Like most other family-friendly, kart-oriented racing games, DreamWorks Super Star Kartz features power-ups, fast-paced racing, stunts, and courses designed in familiar areas from popular DreamWorks’ animated films.

The game will sport three different racing modes, including Circuit, which sees players competitively progressing through each of the tracks in succession. Battle mode is just what it sounds like, inviting players to battle it out around the track with the last kart standing being the winner, and Time Trial lets racers test their mettle as they brace for the need for speed with a race against the clock.

Of course, none of these modes would matter much if it didn’t come jam packed with a four-player split-screen mode and thankfully Super Star Kartz does. This means you can race family or friends in some stiff head-to-head battles.
