It wouldn't be a proper E3 without some news about "Riiiiiiiiidge Racer!" With that in mind, Namco Bandai has annnounced a new Ridge Racer game for the PlayStation Vita handheld.

The press release offers very few details on Ridge Racer (working title) . They mention that it will have "exciting new gameplay additions" and will take advantage of the "revolutionary features of the PlayStation Vita." They don't mention any of the gameplay additions or the PS Vita features they're going to utilize, though.

The PS Vita Ridge Racer is being co-developed by Namco Bandai and Cellius. Cellius is a joint venture between Namco and Sony Computer Entertainment Japan that was founded back in 2007. The director of the game is Hideo Teramoto, who previously served as associated producer for the PSP Ridge Racer as well as Ridge Racer for the PS3.

Sony plans to release the Vita by the end of 2011. There's no mention of whether Ridge Racer will be a launch title.
