E3 Will Remain In Los Angeles Through 2015

Despite rumblings that the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) might not be returning to long-time host city Los Angeles in 2013, it appears the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and the City of Angels have kissed and made up. E3 will be taking place in L.A. from June 11-13 2013, and presumably in a similar timeframe the two years following.

The ESA, it turns out, wasn’t too keen on hosting its massive event amidst the possible complications of the construction of Farmers Field Stadium in downtown L.A. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa commented on the final agreement with the ESA, however, saying that the people of L.A. were willing to do whatever it took to ensure one of the biggest events in gaming returned to its home of the past decade in 2013. What’s more, the deal cements L.A. as the E3 hub through 2015.

While the vast majority of E3 takes place within the L.A. Convention center, many press conferences and additional events take place in arenas and venues all over the city. It’s something of a hassle to navigate in the best of times, so the thought of hosting such a huge event with all of the added stress and congestion of a major construction project going on didn’t exactly float the ESA’s boat. According a press release issued by the ESA earlier today, however, they have been assured the event will be run smoothly despite the additional complications.

If you’re planning on going to next year’s E3, you might want to book your hotel room now. Actually, scratch that. The way lodging goes during E3, you’re probably already too late. Just spend the next year practicing not sleeping. This, of course, all hinges on the assumption that the world doesn’t get eaten by an angry Aztec fire-chicken in December.
