Earthworm Jim Coming To Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, WiiWare, Mobile Phones

Gameloft announced today that they've signed a multi-year agreement with Interplay to develop, publish, and distribute Earthworm Jim in digital form. Earthworm will be released through Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, WiiWare, and mobile platforms.

Earthworm Jim, a run-and-gun platformer starring an earthworm that becomes a superhero after crawling into an experimental space suit, was originally released in 1994 for Sega Genesis. The wording of the press release suggests that Gameloft will be producing a remake of the original rather than an all-new game.

Jim will be released in the last quarter of 2009. Xbox Live Arcade will get it one month before the other platforms.
