Some entertainment enthusiasts like their explosions half-baked, others like their explosions hard-broiled. If you're part of the latter group then strap in and get ready for The Expendables 2: Video Game because these aging but hard-broiled explosions might be just what you're looking for out of an arcade-style co-op shooter that pays homage to the 80s and 90s bad-action movie era.
Ubisoft let the game loose yesterday to no fanfare whatsoever. I didn't even get a press release letting me know it was live. However, despite their lack of faith in the marketing and promotion of the game, which became digitally available for the Xbox Live Arcade and PC (although I don't see the PC version on Steam) for 1200 MS Points or $19.99 respectively. The game launched alongside the movie and to help promote the four-player, co-op arcade title, Ubisoft let loose this explosion-heavy launch trailer. Check it out below.
While that was the launch trailer for the game, it did very little to setup the plot for the game, which is actually a prequel for the new movie of the same name that also launched on the same day.
PS3 gamers had the privilege of getting their hands on the game back on July 31st and so if you were patient enough to wait for the game to release on Xbox 360 or PC then feel free to pick up a digital copy right now from the Live Marketplace and wherever the game is being sold for PC.
Be warned, though, many places haven't been saying favorable things about the game and even the resident authority on cooperative play, Co-Optimus, didn't have the nicest things to say about the game. Nevertheless, until Reef Entertainment releases Rambo The Game, this will be the only time you'll be able to play one of the most badass men who ever walked the planet...no, not Dolph Lundgren, I'm talking about Sylvester Stallone.
