Codemasters is now focusing their efforts solely on the racing genre. They've given up on the FPS genre after the abysmal performance of the commercial console shooter, BodyCount. To help promote the new beta for their upcoming racing sim, F1 Online, Codemasters released a new trailer for the game to showcase some of the gameplay and its features.

As you'll see in the trailer, the game features top-down multiplayer racing action similar to Micro-Machines, as well as plenty of options and customization features to keep gearheads and micromanagement junkies busy for hours on-end. You can check it out in the trailer below.



Running the game in a browser is a smart move given that Codemasters will be able to reach a very, very broad audience with the title. Given the isometric view I imagine die-hard racing sim fans may not be as stoked for the title as some casual gamers, but again, it looks like Codemasters is aiming for a broad audience with accessibility and ease-of-use.
