The post-apocalyptic, open-world, survival, shooter MMO, Fallen Earth, will be going completely free-to-play this week. According to GamersFirst, there will be World Events taking place in-game at random locations where all participants will be on the receiving end of some noteworthy goodies.
It was announced back in June that Fallen Earth would eventually convert to a free-to-play model after Icarus Studios’ MMO was acquired by GamersFirst. Now that the conversion is complete, gamers will be able to log-in, create a character and hop into the wasteland, completely free of charge. For gamers out there who have been long-time subscribers of the once pay-to-play MMORPG, you will be on the receiving end of an automatic membership upgrade that enables you additional benefits, perks and gifts once the game goes free-to-play. There’s also an increase in resources gathered and lesser time required to craft items for those who have a premium subscription, similar to the bonuses received in APB: Reloaded for those who have a premium account. Joseph Willmon, associate game director for GamersFirst commented in the press release, saying… “It’s always a gamble when a company takes an existing MMO from subscription to Free2Play, but the Fallen Earth community and its veteran players have been overwhelmingly supportive,” … “We wanted to find a way to extend a thank you to subscribers for their continued support and feedback.”Returning players will also find a special Spike Chopper gift waiting for them, and it can be used to trample through the wasteland, blasting down anything in its path. Fallen Earth is a pretty cool MMO if you’re looking for something like Fallout and Mad Max, with a strong focus on crafting and survival. It’s a great game for clans and large guilds and with the expanded PvP options, player-killers will even find something that even appeals to them.
