Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Charges Onto PS4 In April
Grab your Chocobos and buster swords, because Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is finally making its way to the PlayStation 4 on April 14, meaning adventurers only have a few more short months to wait before diving into the updated land of Eorzea.
This is actually shaping up to be a pretty fantastic day for MMO fans gaming on Sony's latest home console. We announced yesterday that another MMO, EverQuest Next, would be making its way to the console (though likely not anytime soon), as well as free-to-play MMO shooter, PlanetSide 2, which is actually due out sometime in the first half of 2014.
This latest bit of news concerning A Realm Reborn comes to us courtesy of DualShockers, reporting from a recent letter issued by the game's Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.
According to Yoshida's 12th Letter from the Producer Live, he announced that the PS4 version of A Realm Reborn is just around the corner, set to arrive on April 14. We assume by the blanket statement that this includes all regions slated to get the game. If you're looking to pre-order, you can start doing exactly that come this Monday, Jan. 27.
If you're looking to go full hog on the game and grab the collector's edition, you'll also be scoring yourself a few additional in-game goodies, including all items that came in the PS3/PC version of the collector's edition, as well as a “Wind-up Moogle Minion” and, most importantly, a “Fat Chocobo.” Yes...a fat Chocobo. And it's as magnificent as it sounds.
If you already own the PC or PS3 version of the game, it sounds like you can buy the regular version of A Realm Reborn and reap those extra goodies at no additional charge. So no need to feel like you need to buy the souped up edition if you're going to be journeying into Eorzia for the second time.
As a final reminder, the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn open beta for PlayStation 4 is also just around the corner. Being open to all owners of the console, you can check out what the PS4 version of the game has to offer free of charge come Feb. 22. While the original version of FFXIV was considered an absolute failure, fans of the series seem to be rather pleased with how Reborn turned out, so it's certainly worth a look-see at the low, low cost of exactly zero dollars.
