Rockstar Games is tipping their hat to gamers who have stuck with Red Dead Redemption for the past year and change. They plan to release a free DLC pack this fall for those loyal fans.
The Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack adds several new characters for multiplayer. The characters are all said to be fan favorites. Rockstar confirmed one of the additions today: Landon Ricketts, the legendary gunslinger featured in the single-player campaign. New characters wouldn't be enough to freshen up RDR's multiplayer, though. Therefore, Rockstar's including new maps in the DLC pack as well. Players will get new locations for Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, and Gang modes among others. Rockstar intends to release the Myths and Mavericks pack in September. Before the DLC drops, they'll release a title update. The update will return Undead Overrun multiplayer mode to its original settings. Red Dead Redemption takes place in the last days of the Wild West era. Ex-outlaw John Marston is being forced to hunt down members of his old gang by the government. The epic campaign takes players from the sleepy frontier town of Armadillo to war-torn Mexico and back. While RDR has a host of competitive multiplayer modes, perhaps the most unique aspect of the game's online component is Free Roam mode. Free Roam is sort of like an open-world lobby for multiplayer. You can form a posse and join a standard multiplayer match, but you can also just run around the game world and cause havoc. You and your friends can go on a hunting expedition together, clear out a gang hideout, fight the law, or just kill each other. Anyway, it's certainly the best Western game ever made and it's one of Rockstar's finest works, too. You can read more about it in our review from last year. Back to top
