Full Source Code Available To Customers Of xaitMap, xaitControl
Whether you design low-budget indie titles or you're working on Xbox 360 and PS3 games, xaitment has sent out word that the full source code is currently available to customers who purchased the full license for their AI middleware, xaitMap or xaitControl.
Thorsten Maier, CTO of xaitmen commented about the news, saying...
"As the number and variety of projects we support grows, so too do the number of requests we see for features that are specific to game genres or platforms,” ... “Offering source code with our AI software modules frees developers to customize our code in order to meet the specific needs of their unique projects.”
That's pretty good news. It means that we could be seeing some really interesting AI routines in upcoming games, especially considering that the source code for xaitMap and xaitControl is now free. For those wondering how the middleware works, basically the two programs give you full access to AI routines, pathfinding, behavioral methods, character behavior modeling, AI logic, and even graphical tools to help plot routines, paths and movement habits for the artificial intelligence.
The only downside is that the availability of the code, for free, is limited. That's right, if you don't hop onto the offer right now you may not be able to gain full access to the source code anytime soon. So if you're planning on making some fancy schmancy AI and you want full access to the library of code available from xaitment and their middleware, now would be a good time to purchase up a license for xaitMap and xaitControl.
You can learn more about the free source code offer and the rules and regulations that apply by paying a visit to the Official xaitment Website.
