Today Epic Games and Microsoft are releasing "Fenix Rising," the third premium downloadable content pack for Gears of War 3. "Fenix," which expands the game's multiplayer offering, can be downloaded through Xbox Live for 800 MS Points.

The map pack introduces four new character skins: Recruit Clayton, Thrashball Cole - Limited Edition, Savage Marauder and Savage Kantus - Limited Edition. It also adds five locations for your curb-stomping pleasure: Academy, Anvil, Depths, Escalation and the Slab. All five can be played in Versus Multiplayer, Horde, and Beast Modes.

"Fenix" also extends the progression system for multiplayer. After you've hit level 100, you'll get the option to "Re-up." Your experience and rank will be reset but you'll retain your TrueSkill rating and other progression. Each time you Re-up, you earn a new color for your rank icon and weapon skin. You can Re-up three times to earn Red, Green and Blue colors.

While you can buy "Fenix" for $10, you have another option. You can pay 2400 MS points ($30) for a Season Pass that entitles you to this DLC, "RAAM's Shadow," the "Horde Command Pack," and another unannounced add-on. The Season Pass is 33% cheaper than buying each of these DLC packs individually.
