Gotham City Imposters Goes Free-To-Play On SteamAuthor: Ryan Winslett

Gotham City Imposters, Monolith Productions' goofy first-person shooter take on the epic war between good and evil on the streets of Gotham, has officially gone free-to-play for PC via steam.
While GCI released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC as a $10 game earlier this year, the PC version is officially $0 for anyone and everyone to download. According to a press release from Warner Bros. Interactive, the free version of the game includes the core game, as well as all DLC packs including new maps, weapons, mascots, etc. That's a little confusing, as one of the gun packs is currently listed as $2.99 on Steam and, if you're not charging for anything then how, exactly, do you you make any money off of your product? But here I am looking a gift horse in the mouth. Gotham City Imposters is actually a solid first-person shooting affair with all sorts of great power-ups, map layouts and a wicked sense of humor. In the game, Batman and the Joker have gone missing, leaving an army of “imposters” behind to pick up the slack. You'll take on the role of one of the Jokerz or Batz, weekend warriors who have decided it's their turn to done makeshift outfits and questionable weaponry and shine. If Monolith and Warner Bros. want to give that away for free, who am I to question it? Gotham City Imposters adds a unique spin to the FPS class-based formula, coupling standard firearms with all sorts of goofy toys and gadgets, like the grappling hook and jack-in-the-box bomb, that you can't find anywhere else. The levels take you from the fishing docks to Gotham's seedy underbelly, and the game comes complete with all of your standard FPS modes, as well as some single player challenges to get you used to the game.
