Gran Turismo 6 Vs Project CARS: Graphics Comparison Shows PC Is Untouchable

I was really hoping this would be Forza Motorsport 5 versus Project CARS, as that would have showcased just how far ahead the PC platform is in comparison to the newest generation of home consoles, but it looks like we'll have to settle for Gran Turismo 6 versus Project CARS until the former comparison can be made.

It should go without saying that the PS3 can't even hold a match up to the wick of a candle in comparison to the PC rendition of Project CARS. Heck, I would be willing to bet that the PS3 can't hold a candle to the Wii U version of Project CARS. However, it's made abundantly obvious and undeniably clear that the graphics in Gran Turismo 6 show their age, without a shadow of a doubt.

The comparison comes courtesy of MotoGamesTV, where they give us two full minutes, and then some, of the Pagani Huayra at the Monza track... yep, the same track where the Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo 5 graphics comparison took place.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to see the PC open up a can of whoop-butt like it was Stone Cold Steve Austin from 1998. The geometry detail, the animations, the textures, the shadows, the lighting... all of it Project CARS just beats the living crap out of Gran Turismo 6 at every single turn.

The real killer, though, isn't even with the graphics. The thing that separates both games to a degree in which there is no measuring stick long enough to distinguish the gap in quality, lies with the sound.

Project CARS sounds like gamers are literally, actually right there with the car, in the cockpit. Gran Turismo 6 sounds like someone gently vacuuming a Hagopian rug.

Nevertheless, anyone without a gaming PC will be relegated to the piss-poorness of seventh gen console gaming. If you have to decide whether you want to get a gaming rig or a new gen console from Sony or Microsoft, well, I would suggest you wait until the Forza 5 and Driveclub comparisons arrive, in which case you'll get to see how much you're paying for far inferior tech for the same price.

Luckily, if you're just in it for the fun and games, there's still the Wii U, which not only provides the fun in spades, but it also manages to pack just enough of a punch in the graphics department to remind gamers that Nintendo is still in the eighth generation of gaming to win it. That's not to mention that yes, Project CARS is coming to the Wii U and it will bring a lot of high-end graphics features with it.

Gran Turismo 6 is currently available exclusively for the PS3. Project CARS is available in its alpha form to early backers, but will be released to a wide audience on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U later into 2014.
