Gamigo's upcoming action-oriented MMOFPS, Grimlands, received a batch of new screenshots from the latest beta test. The design team has been hard at work since the game's start into closed beta a few months ago and they've managed to change and update quite a few things, including the textures, character creation and the game maps.
There's a few other noteworthy changes made to the game, as expressed in the press release below...
Great attention has been devoted to the game's environment. Jagged ravines, massive shifts of earth, and diverse detail improvements make the landscape even more threatening. Changes in weather with particular phenomena like sandstorms make for a gloomier atmosphere. Two new models of vehicle have been integrated into the game which can be modified in every aspect- among others with armor, stronger engines, better chassis, and, of course, weaponry in the form of a heavy-caliber machine gun on the roof.
This is almost equivalent to what's featured in Fallen Earth, where players can team up or face off against each other with in on-foot or vehicular based combat. The cool part about both games is the ability to upgrade and modify the vehicles, adding a bit of an extra meta-game to the overall presentation for gearheads and vehicle-scavengers.
The latest screenshots feature some wasteland vistas, armored trucks and some desert marauders. The game seems to be coming along nicely and it will be interesting to see what Grimlands looks like in its final form. The actual combat is going to be the real telling part, though.
