Growlancer: Wayfarer of Time is finally making its way to U.S. PlayStation Portables and, by “finally,” I mean next week. A July 31st launch date and plenty of shmexy gameplay footage is yours to behold thanks to the recently released launch trailer.
The Growlanser series has something of a cult following here in the States due to lack of availability and slow localization. This “missing chapter” i the war between humans and angels is actually a buffed up version of the original Wayfarer of Time, which meant an even longer delay for local fans who were dying to get their hands on this Japanese SRPG. Atlus' Aram Jabbari lays it all out on the table in a PlayStation Blog post, explaining that the localization process began well before the announcement of the Vita, hence the choice of platforms. He stresses that while Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time won't be compatible with Sony's new handheld immediately, the team is working to have Vita support “as close to launch as possible.” Along with battling angels, players will spend their time exploring villages, performing random quests around the world, and there's even a light dating simulator to strengthen the bond between characters. Look for Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time to hit store shelves and the PlayStation Network during the next weekly update on July 31. Back to top
