Hitman Dev: Co-op Never Felt Right

IO Interactive has explored the idea of making a Hitman game with a cooperative multiplayer component. However, Hitman: Absolution director Tore Blystad said that it wouldn't be a good fit for the franchise.

"Of course we have been discussing co-op for many Hitman games but it never felt right," Blystad told OXM. "Agent 47 is a loner and we have never found a way to give him a partner, because to be honest, he doesn't need one."

The idea of a co-op assassination game is interesting. Splinter Cell: Conviction's two-player campaign is probably the closest we've seen to that. As Blystad said, though, Agent 47's always been a lone wolf. At this point in the series, it would be tough to introduce a buddy. Plus, a new character with equal skills and abilities would make Agent 47 seem a bit less bad-ass.

Absolution is due later this year on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
