You may have already heard that Interplay was planning to revive some of its old franchises, like MDK, Descent, and Earthworm Jim. Interplay announced Monday that they'll also be rereleasing some of those old games on Wii's Virtual Console in order to remind us graybeards why we liked them so much and to generate some excitement for upcoming sequels.

The four games being rereleased are Clayfighter, Earthworm Jim, Earthworm Jim 2, and Boogerman. Boogerman, if you don't remember, was a side-scroller featuring a super hero that vanquishes enemies with boogers and farts. Think about that storyline the next time you want to bitch about the plot holes in Halo.

There's no set release date for any of the games yet but the plan is to have them ready by the end of the year at the latest. None of these games are on Xbox Live or PSN so it's a nice shot in the arm for VC.
