Jagged Alliance: Flashback Backers Will Receive DRM-Free Classic Pack For Free
Wow, this Kickstarter campaign just kicked it into high gear. Danish development studio Full Control announced today that anyone who pledged $5 or more towards the Jagged Alliance: Flashback Kickstarter will automatically receive a DRM-free Humble Indie Bundle of Jagged Alliance, Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games, Jagged Alliance 2 and Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business, complete with Windows 7 support.
That last bit is extremely important, as many of you die hard PC Master Race members know there is no official Windows 7 or Windows 8 support for any of the original Jagged Alliance games. While you can throw middle-fingers at Microsoft all day long for making it next-to-nigh impossible to play some older games on newer operating systems, you can take refuge in knowing that Full Control's DRM-free renditions of the older Jagged Alliance titles will have full-on 64-bit support for the newest Windows operating systems. You no longer have to complain on the forums about how crappy Windows 7 is for prohibiting you from playing Jagged Alliance or trying to get your Steam copy to work by using the DosBox.
Thomas Lund, CEO of Full Control commented about the additional free pack of games included with the Kickstarter campaign for Jagged Alliance: Flashback, saying...
“We are excited to be able to offer our Kickstarter supporters this valuable, limited edition Classic Pack to keep them entertained during the full development phase of Jagged Alliance: Flashback”... “Humble Bundle is a great partner, and we are grateful for their support during the funding phase of what we know will be an excellent addition to the Jagged Alliance brand”.
I just hope Flashback gets fully funded because it deserves a spot on the mantle of good Jagged Alliance games if Full Control can just stick to the basics and use today's technology to advance on 15 year old concepts.
I'm equally excited as I am leery about the project only because I'm a diehard Jagged Alliance fan (mostly Jagged Alliance 2). Modding the crap out of those games were a real joy and anyone who played using the “realism” mods would understand just how tactically intense Sir-Tech's games could be, without any of that absolutely horrid artificial difficulty that's present in many of today's flaccidly designed games.
Anyway, if you really want to learn more about Jagged Alliance: Flashback or find out more about the Humble Indie Bundle that contains all the classic, DRM-free JA games with Windows 7+ support, feel free to visit the official Kickstarter page. Hopefully this doesn't turn out like Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire, which was such a blight on the industry with a showcase of piss-poor practices by a publisher.
