Jet Set Radiooooooo! Fans of the beloved Dreamcast adventure/platforming game may have already heard that Jet Set Radio HD is headed to the PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC sometime this summer. The latest news out of Sega today, however, is that the remake will also be making the jump to iOS and Android devices.
All you rollerblade-wearing, graffiti-spraying hoodlums in the audience will now be able to pick up the latest incarnation of the beloved Jet Set Radio for pretty much any device imaginable. The mobile version of the game will have all of the same gameplay as the console/PC versions, as well as the ability to use pictures taken with your device to turn into in-game tags for your characters to use. That means you’ll be able to out-skate rival gangs, tag all the best surfaces and upload your best scores to Facebook whether you’re taking the bus to work, sitting on the can or sneakily hunkering down at the back of the classroom. Jet Set Radio is easily one of the best games to launch on the doomed Sega Dreamcast console, so seeing such a wonderful game get a second lease on life just warms my nerdy heart. The cell-shaded graphics were beautiful in the first place, making this one of those perfect titles for an HD upgrade. My only complaint with the original game was a camera that sometimes fought with the player and, thanks to the new control scheme, that concern will be a thing of the past. Yep, I’m pretty excited.
