The NPD Group released their June sales data for North America on Thursday and surprise surprise, the DS and Wii won in hardware sales. The software sales has several new faces, though.

Hardware Sales:
  1. Nintendo DS - 766.5K
  2. Nintendo Wii - 361.7K
  3. Xbox 360 - 240.6K
  4. PlayStation 3 - 164.7K
  5. PSP - 163.5K
  6. PlayStation 2 - 152.7K

Software Sales:
  1. Prototype (Xbox 360) - 419.9K
  2. UFC 2009 Undisputed (Xbox 360) – 338.3K
  3. EA Sports Active (Nintendo Wii) - 289.1K
  4. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 (Nintendo Wii) - 272.4K
  5. Wii Fit (Nintendo Wii) - 271.6K
  6. Fight Night Round 4 (Xbox 360) - 260.8K
  7. Fight Night Round 4 (Playstation 3) - 210.3K
  8. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo Wii) - 202.1K
  9. Red Faction: Guerrilla (Xbox 360) – 199.4 K
  10. inFamous (Playstation 3) - 192.7K

Prototype, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10, and Fight Night Round 4 were all released in June so it's nice to see they did okay even though the summer's traditionally slow for gaming. This is apparently the first month that Wii Play hasn't appeared in the Top 10 since February 2007. I suppose that game's being crowded out by other athletic fare like PGA TOUR 10, EA Sports Active, and Wii Fit. On the hardware side of things, the Xbox 360 is the only platform to see an increase in sales compared to last year but that's partly due to how crappy of a June 2008 they had.
