Killzone: Mercenary may not be hitting the PlayStation Vita until late September, but the folks over at Guerrilla Games are making sure that the hype level stays nice and high between now and then with a constant stream of media and details. Today, a new video has been released that gives a look at some of the game's unique systems, including on-the-fly upgrades and the ever-popular brutal melee kills.

This latest batch of Killzone: Mercenary details comes to us courtesy of the PlayStation Blog. Social Media Manager Sid Shuman pops in to give everyone some inside details about the game he took away from a recent press event, as well as show off the following video that covers everything from when the game takes place in the Killzone storyline to the types of weapons and abilities players will be able to take advantage of and, yes, more than a few looks at those oh-so-violent close quarters kills.

The post goes on to reiterate a few points that have already been made concerning Mercenary, including the fact that the campaign will feature nine main missions, additional challenge missions will be available and that the 4v4 multiplayer will boast three modes at launch, one of which is the requisite team deathmatch.

Shuman goes on to talk about the importance of money in Killzone: Marcenary, as everything you do within the game across the campaign, challenges and multiplayer will add to your character's stash. You'll be able to use these funds to purchase weapons from the largest arsenal in Killzone history, as well as additional assists and upgrades.

Expect plenty more details to surface leading up to the launch of the game, as we're still quite a ways off. Killzone: Mercenary comes to the PS Vita on Sept. 17.
