KillZone’s Helghast Worse Than God In Canada?

published: 2009-03-18 15:59:02
Headlines have been turning heads lately, and sadly we’re not the culprits inculcating the head-turning. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean we don’t get our say-so in the matter…because what kind of gaming enthusiasts would we be if a headline like that passed us by and none of us said anything?

Yaris Gutierrez from Loot Ninja is at it again, this time covering the news about Sony’s ineffective advertising measures for their games, the PS3 and the PlayStation brand in general. Now for anyone who has read anything I’ve had to say about the matter will know darn well that Sony’s advertising has been in the gutter for a long time.

Moreover, it’s not just that Sony has been awful at properly promoting their games and the PS3, it’s that they seem to simply not care. To make matters worse is that Sony appears to have help in the anti-promotion of PS3 products from Canadians. According to the article on Loot Ninja, “It all began when some douchebag teacher emailed Sony Canada to complain about the ads in the bus shelter near his school because there were kids in his class that came from different countries who’ve experienced violence. A Helghast face was the culprit.” writes Gutierrez.

All right, so now Sony is concurring the removal of promotional ads of KillZone 2 because it could incite violence and fear, but Canadians don’t mind bus ads saying there is no God? It’s fairly baffling that no one really seems to profit from being marketed the idea of atheism, as opposed to people being made aware that a kick-butt new game is out and available for the PS3. Regardless, KillZone 2’s poster marketing lost out to atheism in Canada.
