A new game has emerged on Kickstarter, this time from venerable mobile developer, Burton Design Group and Game Theropy Entertainment. The game sees players assuming the role of an agent carrying out missions in a wide open city while utilizing vehicular combat to take down foes.
The game looks a lot like EA's take on 007 From Russia With Love, with a DB6 clone-car being the main star of the game, while players assume the role of Eric Hunter, the son of a wealthy tycoon who plans to fight corruption and illegal goods being transported into the city. The game's prohibition era setting helps setup the story and backdrop to the crime-heavy, combat-driving sim.
The Kickstarter video does a decent job of illustrating what the core gameplay mechanics will look like as well as how the driving will play out. The ability to utilize alleys, sidestreets and secret passageways are also demonstrated for players who prefer using a stealthy approach to taking down enemies. Check it out below.
It's hard to get a scope on the game but then again, it's still $300,000 away from being complete, so it's easy to see how there's plenty of room for improvement.
I imagine gamers who enjoyed titles like Interstate 76, Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal will be drawn to something like Knight Hunter, which seems to combine a little bit of Spy Hunter with 007 games. The last mainstream game we had like this was Vin Diesel's The Wheelman. It seems weird that it's been that long since a company has attempted another vehicular-combat spy game, but I guess right now the dollar signs of Call of Duty are too tempting to pass up.
If you've been craving a vehicle-based, open-world action game, then you can give Knight Hunter a gander over at the Official Kickstarter Page. The team still has 30 days to go, as of the publishing of this article, so there's still time just in case you have to scrounge together a few coins from the couch.
