The Last Story Coming To North America, New Screenshots Released

XSeed Games is bringing one of the most celebrated Wii games this generation to North American audiences this year, Hironobu Sakaguichi's The Last Story. To celebrate this announcement XSeed has unleashed a smattering of screenshots for JRPG fans.

The Last Story when it was released in Europe was labeled as a much more superior experience than Final Fantasy XIII-2. The game takes the basic concepts of a JRPG and then turns those concepts on their head to offer gamers a proper and unique RPG experience with the evolution of turn-based combat being replaced with semi real-time action, as well as stealth, wall-hugging and both long-range projectile attacks as well as up-close and personal melee abilities.

The story follows a group of mercenaries just trying to find work, but they end up getting caught up in a much bigger plot that takes priority over their nickel and diming schemes.

Fans of Sakaguichi's Mistwalker Studios, the same company behind one of this generation's most unforgettable console RPGs, Lost Odyssey, will more than likely enjoy The Last Story. Gamers in North America will be able to look for the game to become available exclusively for the Wii this July, so the wait won't be long since most of the localizing was already done and out of the way earlier this year when it released in PAL territories.
