The Last Of Us Multiplayer Gameplay Video Is Like Max Payne Meets DayZ
So we finally get to see the multiplayer for The Last of Us and what does it look like? It looks like 100 pounds of awesome trapped in a 50GB Blu-ray disc. With the game set for release on June 14th following the excitement of E3, this new gameplay video is a perfect way to keep the fervor going until next week.
The video comes courtesy of Polish site Boss Battle Coming, where they show off the game's traditional deathmatch mode that sports lots of shooting, more shooting, even more shooting and some melee combat.
The pace and scope of the fights play out very similar to DayZ (except in close range instead of 100 meters out with sniper rifles) and players are encouraged to use cover, stay low, utilize the environment for safety and engage only when there's a real opportunity to exploit. Scavenging goods and staying alive is a tough thing to do given the game's harsh and unrelenting way of handling damage, which certainly forces players to think about the encounters they engage in before running out there guns-a-blazin'.
The movements and mechanics of the multiplayer seem very reminiscent to the smooth-as-butter animations and environment traversing of Max Payne 3. Getting around objects, hopping over ledges and using the debris as an advantageous way to get the drop on opponents is showcased with seamless fluidity. I'm sincerely impressed. Oh yeah, can't you hop over ledges in Call of Duty: Ghosts? Almost forgot about that exclusive next-gen feature...hopping over ledges with Lassie.
Anyway, there are additional game modes beyond the standard-fare multiplayer deathmatch, there are a few other modes that take advantage of the game's post-apocalyptic setting and vegetable zombie antagonists.
