ThreeGates is ready to pull back the curtain a bit further on its upcoming action roleplaying game, Legends of Aethereus, offering a new beta for Linux and Mac users that will let participants try out the game, the four player co-op and a variety of the PvP game types.
According to ThreeGates CEO Don Geyer, getting Legends of Aethereus ready to run silky smooth on Linux and Machas been a top priority for the developer.
“It is really important for us to offer Legends of Aethereus to the Linux community,” Geyer said. “We will upgrade the current beta with multiplayer and co-op features in the next few weeks, but first we wanted to focus on getting out a version for our friends using the Linux and Mac Platforms. They have been incredibly supportive of the game and we want to take good care of them.”
Here’s a four minute clip showing off some footage from the beta, which you can now take part in on Linux and Mac by heading to the game’s official website.
Legends of Aethereus allows players to take on the role of an Inventor, Astrographer or Officer in a fantasy world that, you guessed it, is in need of a few thousand heroes to keep the dark forces at bay. Players can customize their cities with their own statues and banners, and invite fellow players in to check out their work or go toe-to-toe in the arena. You could also just team up with said buddies and take on some co-op missions, too.
Combat is physics-based and features traps, set-up weapons and even interaction with the environment. Missions will be of the hand-crafted, story-driven variety, as well as exploration quests that are procedurally generated, keeping things fresh.
