Little King’s Story was an early hit for the Wii Virtual Console, now Konami Digital Entertainment is hoping that a revamped and upgraded version of that adventure/RPG hybrid will work similar magic on the PlayStation Vita, finally announcing New Little King’s Story’s official launch date of October 2nd.
In just a few weeks, North American gamers will be able to take control of Corobo, a young king who must save his lands from the Devil King known as “The Nightmare.” Resource and army management will be key in order to create the strongest kingdom and ensure the best soldiers are protecting it. Throughout his adventures, King Corobo must visit seven different kingdoms in order to rescue the royal princesses from a collection of nasty dark lords. Waitaminute…Corobo grew up with seven sisters? That had to be something of a royal nightmare. (I apologize.) Along with upgraded 2D and 3D visuals that make the game look decidedly less “kiddie,” New Little King’s Story also sports a handful of new features unique to the Vita version of the game, including touch controls, new downloadable content, item combining cooperative play and online leaderboards. New Little King’s Story offers a nice variety of mechanics wrapped in a charming package that looks to be a perfect fit for portable play. With the Vita’s library crawling along following a massive launch, it should come as a welcome addition to adventure RPG fans looking for something new to do on Sony’s latest handheld. No price point has been given, but it looks like New Little King’s Story will be receiving a retail release, so expect to be paying between 30 to 40 bucks once it hits store shelves on Oct. 2.
