Loadout Weapon Customization Fuses Borderlands With Team Fortress 2
Okay, so you know how you loved all those crazy guns in Borderlands but you just wanted to be able to switch a piece, part or effect here and there? Well, you know how you can craft and build items in Team Fortress 2? Well, okay imagine being able to fuse both those games together. If your mind partially melted due to the epic-uberness, it's okay, it happens.
Loadout is being developed and designed by Edge of Reality, a company best known for Tony Hawk games. Well, not to dwell on the past, Edge of Reality's new focus is on a cartoony style third-person shooter called Loadout, a free-to-play action game that really kicks it into high gear for everyone who has wanted something more out the typical PvP-oriented arena games.
I'm not going to waste a lot of time trying to explain how the mechanics and crafting works, so instead I'll let the video do that.
Awesome right? I mean, you can create some really radical weapons using that setup. It's hard to gauge right now just how much variety players will have but I get the feeling the cash shop will be bustling full of unique gadgets and gizmos to give gamers some fun stuff to play around with. But I'm guessing a shotgun that pelts people with explosive acid would be just as sick.
Another thing worth noting is the character damage. You can visibly see where characters take damage to certain body parts, with a straight blast to the character's arms or legs showing chipped away flesh, visible bone and sinew. That's also pretty sick...although the verdict is still out if it's in the good sick way or the bad sick way.
Anyways, Loadout is currently prepping to head into beta and Edge of Reality is looking for a few good applicants to fill out their ranks. You can also learn more about the game by paying a visit to the game's Official Website.
