In the crowded world of collectible card games, better known as CCGs, only one game can reign supreme, and the current undisputed champion of them all is Magic: The Gathering. Making the jump from physical card game to digital experience several years back, the Magic legacy will continue this summer as Wizards of the Coast announce the Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers video game.
As I said, the CCG world is a bustling scene these days, bolstered by the growing mobile market. Even games like the Uncharted have a CCG spinoff, as well as the recently announced Hearthstone, which takes place in the world of Warcraft. Given the success of numerous other CCGs on mobile platforms, it should come as no surprise that Magic is finally taking advantage of the full spectrum this time around as Duels of the Plainswalkers 2014 will launch for the first time ever on Android devices. Donít worry, itís also coming to its usual array of platforms, including PC, iOS, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Along with several new features, Magic 2014 will also include a full single player story mode, giving players the chance to help Planeswalker Chandra Nalaaar track down and defeat a dangerous foe. Players will also have access to 10 new decks, 15 new encounters, 10 new puzzle challenges and an all new, unnamed play mode to experience.
The Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalker video game is set to release over the summer, giving players their first taste of the new cards that will be introduced later this year in the latest expansion for the physical game. For more information, visit the gameís official website.
