Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth Trailer, Screenshots Reveal New Characters

Today Ubisoft sent out a flood of new assets for Marvel Avengers Battle for Earth. The trailer and screenshots announce a few additions to Wii U/Kinect brawler's already extensive cast.

The game's plot centers around an invasion of Earth by the Skrulls. The arrival of this shape-shifting alien race apparently hasn't stopped the perpetual conflict between super heroes and villains. The trailer opens with Dr. Doom fighting Thor and Captain America.

Dr. Doom isn't the only fresh face on display. Iceman, Storm and Venom all make appearances in the screenshots. A planet-wide invasion would be of interest to any superbeing living on Earth so I'm glad Ubisoft is pulling together so many characters.

The trailer ends on a little bit of a cliff-hanger. The game is based on the "Secret Invasion" comic book storyline in which the Skrull slowly replaced superheroes with their own agents over several years. In the closing seconds, Captain America turns to the camera to reveal that he's...a Skrull. Dun dun dun.

Avengers: Battle for Earth will arrive this fall.
