Mass Effect 3 Operation Shieldwall Will Punish Players

For the first time ever, the Mass Effect 3 player community failed to complete a weekend challenge. Players' inability to complete Operation Silencer has led BioWare to crank up the difficulty a bit this week for Operation Shieldwall.
Operation Silencer tasked players with killing 3,000,000 Banshees. Their failure has led to the Banshees' numbers growing. Now, each match against Reaper forces will feature more Banshees. They may even spawn alongside other enemies.
The player community's collective goal during Shieldwall is to promote 50,000 characters. The goal for individual squads is to promote 3 characters. Completing the community and squad goals will grant players a Victory Pack and Commendation Pack, respectively. The Victory Pack is said to have a high chance of containing a Rare weapon.
Operation Shieldwall will begin on Friday, May 25th at 6 PM PST. It'll run until 5PM PST on Sunday, May 27th. All players on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC will be able to participate. You just need to remember to enable "Upload Gameplay Feedback" in the options menu. PS3 owners won't be able to see the promotion screen due to a bug but their contributions are still being recorded.
It was inevitable that ME3 players would fail one of the challenges. BioWare was bound to set a goal that was simply too high to reach, especially as the game ages and players look elsewhere for entertainment. I like that BioWare incorporated the failure into this week's challenge, though. I wish more of these challenges were connected by some kind of narrative. It would make the multiplayer feel a bit more integrated with the rest of the ME universe.
