A new indie title for PC is on the horizon called Miner Wars 2081, it’s a throwback game to the golden era of gaming when games like Zone Raiders, Descent and Qaurantine were making waves on the market. A brand spanking new tech demo for the upcoming first-person shooter shows off some of the SSAO and HDR visual mechanics, as well as some of the flying physics for the mining craft.

It’s not bad looking and the nostalgic feel to the design is something I’m really digging. The 90s was littered with the sewage palette consisting of a lot of grays and browns, found in games like Quake and Sewer Sharks, but at the same time a lot of games stood out with this color scheme distinction.

Here’s hoping Miner Wars 2081 has enough visual and gameplay weight to its atmosphere to make the sort of lasting impression that the first two Descent games made back in the 90s. I’m curious to see where this project goes and at the moment it’s only in its pre-alpha stage of development.
