This weekend Amazon.com announced its best-selling video games for 2011. The overall top-seller was obviously Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 but the list did have a couple surprises.

The list was actually split into two halves: physical and digital sales. While Modern Warfare 3 was top for the physical sales, it was only eighth on the digital list. It was bested by games like Battlefield 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Human Revolution was the winner for digital sales. It's a bit surprising to see it best MW3 and BF3. It's worth keeping in mind, though, that Amazon is just one of many digital retailers out there. Plus, pre-order incentives or discounts can skew sales for one game or another.

At the end of 2011, Amazon had announced a few other Best of 2011 Lists. They revealed that while MW3 was the best-selling and most wished-for game, the most gifted game was actually Just Dance 3. Portal 2 was the "most loved game," based on customer reviews.

The full list of top-sellers is below. For physical sales, the sales totals for all platforms were combined. Collector's Editions were not included, however.
