In this age of daily digital game releases, tower defense games are a dime a dozen. But a tower offense game? Well, those are much more uncommon. Monster Trouble: Dark Side is one of the few games to emerge in this new genre, putting the player in control of a swarm of monsters bent on destroying those puny human villagers.

So, here's the deal: The humans have in their possession the talisman of the Moon Shadows. Being an evil overlord, you obviously want to get your hands on that bad boy. To do this, you will unleash flocks of vampires, hordes of goblins and the occasional lumbering troll through 10 maps, 24 levels and four difficulty levels to smash, pillage and generally destroy human fortifications.

While the object of a tower defense game is to make it impossible for the bad guys to get to your base, the object of a tower offense game is to overrun the opposition. You'll control up to 10 different monsters, each with their own abilities, and wage war against five different types of defenders who would like nothing more than to see your monstrous army burn to the ground.

Monster Trouble: Dark Side also features a collection of power-ups to enhance your evil forces, a night/day cycle, as well as various weather conditions that will effect gameplay. Your job is to scout the situation, decide which monster you want to send in from which direction, select how many of said monster you want to deploy, then command them to do your bidding. Objectives include destroying main structures before your ghoulish resources run out or reaching a certain area within a given time limit.

Monster Trouble: Dark Side will set you back $3.99 and can be played on iOS devices running 4.2 or later. Pick it up on iTunes.
