Nintendo Producers Working With Platinum Games On Bayonetta 2

Nintendo doesn't want stinkers on their console(s). Despite the Wii being a magnet for shovelware, the company's first and second-party titles were usually top notch, why? Because Nintendo liked dipping their big toe into the development pool to ensure that the projects came out sparkling with awesome. Nintendo's methodology of helping out with development is also being applied to Bayonetta 2, where the game's supervisor, Hideki Kamiya, acknowledged that Nintendo's producers are chiming in on the development.

According to Siliconera, Kamiya was asked a rather blatant question on Twitter about Nintendo's involvement with the production of Bayonetta 2, to which Hideki briefly and succinctly answered, “Yes”.

In case you've been out of the loop, Nintendo is fronting the money for Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive. The reason they're doing so? Because no one else would. The announcement about Bayonetta 2's exclusivity sent shock-waves throughout the gaming community, with a ton of backlash being aimed at Kamiya and Platinum Games.

The president of Platinum Games eventually stepped forward to clear the air and explain that without Nintendo there wouldn't even be a Bayonetta 2. I'm not sure if this really eased the rage or created cheer, but it will be a darn tooting carnival ride seeing how this whole thing plays out, even more-so than Capcom and the fan backlash over emo-Dante.

Bayonetta 2 is still without a release date but we'll keep you posted on its progress. The Wii U launches this November in Europe and North America and will be available in Japan at the beginning of December.
