OlliOlli Lands On Vita This Week

Vita gamers will be able to put their virtual boarding skills to the test this week as OlliOlli finally makes its way to the PlayStation Network, headlining a rather light week for Sony's virtual marketplace. There's also a sale on musical games, so get read to keep the beat going with some big discounts for all PSN customers and even deeper cuts for those with PlayStation Plus.

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that OlliOlli would soon be kickflipping onto the PlayStation Vita and, tomorrow afternoon, it's time in the spotlight has come. Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements made the announcement official, giving us a few extra details of the retro skateboarding title to boot.

OlliOlli combines the fun of pulling off tricks with the thrill of one-life gameplay,” Clements said in this week's The Drop announcement. “In order to keep your score going, you'll need to hit every single landing perfectly. No falling on your face.”

He goes on to say that the game features more than 120 tricks and grinds for the player to master, as well as 50 levels to conquer. There's even a Daily Grind level, where players will have a single shot to see how well they stack up against the rest of the world on a daily basis. You can expect the regular accompaniment of leader boards, too.

Other than that, only one other game and one demo have been listed for this week's main update. The game, as it turns out, is a PSOne import from Japan called Lucifer Ring. A side-scrolling beat-em-up, Lucifer Ring has players walking across the screen, pummeling baddie after baddie with their various weapons or casting nasty spells to handle tougher problems. The game hasn't been translated, hence the “Import” specification, but it's one of those titles that can be played without needing to actually read the native language. We can all understand “head that way and kill all of the dudes,” right?

Finally, another nice surprise for the PlayStation Vita this week is the demo release for Toukiden: The Age of Demons. The latest monster hunting game to arrive on Sony's handheld, Toukiden lets up to four players design their own warrior, then take them into co-op battles against some massive enemies as they try to rid the countryside of the encroaching demon threat.

Finally, if nothing from this week's update has you itching to make a purchase, maybe you'd enjoy some deep discounts on a musical hit or two. This week marks the launch of the PlayStation Music Sale, offering savings for all PSN customers on a boatload of games with a musical slant, as well as even deeper discounts for PlayStation Plus.

Check out the official listing for a full rundown but, as a primer, the sale includes games like Everyday Shooter for $250 (Plus), Kickbeat for $2.99, Rock Band Blitz for $6.99 and Sound Shapes for $7.34.

The sale also includes movies, like 8Mile, Dazed and Confused, Footloose, Hustle and Flo and more.
