The Witness, the next game by Braid creator Jonathan Blow, made a stealth appearance at PAX this weekend. Fortunately, someone had the good sense to get some video footage of it.

Kotaku's Stephen Totilo went hands-on with the game and recorded the video below. What he played was an early build with placeholder visuals but it should give you a basic sense of what to expect. It's a first-person perspective game in which you explore an island and solve puzzles.

"We haven’t decided what platforms the game will be released for, yet," said Blow on his blog this weekend. "At PAX we had it played on a 360 controller because that was the simplest / most robust control scheme."

Last we heard, The Witness will be released in 2011.
