PlanetSide 2 Adding New Continent

Sony Online Entertainment is going to greatly expand their MMO shooter PlanetSide 2 this weekend. They plan to open up an entire continent called Esamir in the game world.

Esamir is a much harsher environment than players are used to. It's covered in icy tundra and large rock formations. Snowstorms are commonplace, making visibility difficult.

This new continent brings gameplay changes as well. Shield generators are harder to disable here so players will need to overload them. SOE is also included new weapon and vehicle handling certifications, and sidegrades for weapons.

PlanetSide 2 has been in beta since early August. The public launch is expected by the end of the year.
