PlayStation Mobile Chillingo Invasion Begins With Feed Me Oil
Along with doubling down on indie support for its various home and portable consoles, it looks like Sony is looking to make the PlayStation Mobile platform a larger part of its gaming portfolio. Helping lead that charge will be a collection of four games coming from Chillingo in the next couple of months, beginning today with the launch of Feed Me Oil.
A lot of folks seem to forget that Sony offers a suite of smaller games for PlayStation-certified devices, including various smartphones and the publisher’s own handheld gaming console, the PlayStation Vita. Bite-sized games you’d traditionally find on mobile devices, these offerings are usually easy on the wallet, but cultivated by Sony to be full of fun/unique content.
Launched late last year, the PlayStation Mobile marketplace features such pint-sized hits as Super Crate Box, Gun Commando and Haunt the House, to name a few. Despite having its own tab within the Vita’s PlayStation Store, however, many gamers tend to forget that these smaller, more affordable offerings are even available.
To help break that cycle, Sony has partnered with various game developers and publishers, like Chillingo, to bring their content to Sony’s travel-ready platform. Announced today through the PlayStation Blog, Chillingo will actually be bringing four of its upcoming games to the PlayStation Mobile storefront, beginning today with Feed Me Oil.
Launching for $1.49, Feed Me Oil is a physics-based puzzle game that’s already caused quite a splash on other mobile devices. The Chillingo invasion continues on July 10, when iBomber Defense arrives on PS Mobile for $2.79, then again on July 24 when puzzle/platformer Roll in the Hole launches for $1.49. Things will wrap up on August 7th when Little Acorns arrives for $1.49, offering classic platforming for less than a cup of coffee... assuming you didn't steal that cup of coffee.
