PlayStation Network's Top-Selling Games Of November Revealed

Between the launch of a brand new home console and the release of numerous big titles for consoles both new and old, November was a pretty massive month in the ole games department for PlayStation consoles. Sony has now released the rankings for the top sellers in various categories last month with a bunch of no-brainers and a handful of surprises.

This being the first month of sales for the PlayStaiton 4, I find it kind of funny that the Games of the Month listing goes to a full 20. The PS4 only has like 25 games at this point, leaving me to feel a bit sorry for the games not included on this list.

As for the remainder of PlayStaiton platforms, you probably won’t be surprised to see games involving the words Call of Duty, Battlefield and Grand Theft Auto sitting comfortably at the top of the list. But a surprise attack from Flower is certainly welcome, as is an influx of love for the Ys games on portable consoles.

First up, though, we’ll take a gander at the youngest sibling of the PlayStation family, the PS4. Sony has broken down the list for the PS4 into one containing games with digital upgrades and one without digital upgrades. The “with” list includes figures bolstered by the PS3 to PS4 upgrade plan, meaning that some games were more or less getting double the hits. In that list, Call of Duty: Ghosts leads the charge, followed by Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Flower and Need for Sped Rivals rounding out the top five. Not including the upgraded versions, the most non-violent game available on any console, Flower nabs the top spot with Need for Speed in second, Battlefield 4 in third, NBA 2K14 in fourth and Assassin’s Creed IV in fifth.

On to the decidedly less confusing platform of the PlayStation 3, movers and shakers throughout the month of November included, in descending order, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K14 and Assassin’s Creed IV. As for PS3 add-ons, the Black Ops II Apocalypse pack was the highest seller last month, followed by the Ghosts season pass, the Battlefield 4 premium upgrade, and the Technology and Resources packs for Assassin’s Creed.

The PlayStation Vita is home to what is, in my mind, the best news of the month, as the top two spots belong to Tearaway and Ys: Memories of Celceta respectively. Tearaway did not receive anywhere near the pre-launch marketing push it needed and even launched against a couple of Nintendo juggernauts and the Xbox One. It was, in short, set up for failure. Restoring my faith in humanity, however, gamers decided to pick up the amazing game anyway, along with one of the best RPGs on the console, Memories of Celceta. Rounding out the top five were Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, CastleStorm and Killzone: Mercenary. The top five PlayStation Classics for November were Fatal Frame II and Fatal Frame holding down the top two spots, followed by Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII and GTA: San Andreas. It looks like years later, the Metal Gear Solid franchise is still a very strong market competitor.

The PS Mobile top performers were Sola Radio, Beats Trellis, Bloodred Wyvern, Cytus Lambda and Scientific Electronic Calculator, with the PSP’s best games being Ys: Seven, Persona 3, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Ys: Oath in Felghana and GTA: Vice City Stories.
