The Pokemon legacy continues early next year as Nintendo announced a March 24 release for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Become a Pokemon, explore the world, delve into dungeons and kick the snot out of your fellow cuddly creatures. Itís that simple.
Some people view the sport of Pokemon battling as barbaric. These hippy tree-huggers like to envision Pokemon as a peaceful race of adorable little critters that would be frolicking an rolling around in the grass with one another were mean humans not constantly capturing them and forcing them to fight. As the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games have pointed out, however, thereís nothing a Pokemon likes better than invading another Pokemonís home and then beating them senseless.
That wonderful tradition of cutsey violence continues in the latest game to come to the series, Gates of Infinity. Players will begin by taking on the role of either Pikachu, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig or Axew. From there, your job is to stroll around town accepting missions, explore the vast world and dive into the randomly generated dungeons in order to loot treasure chests and straight up murder any wild Pokemon who happen to call said dungeon home.
Some of the Pokemon whose worlds you destroy will also want to join your party, growing your army of furry freaks bigger and bigger. From there, you can play as any Pokemon youíve managed to recruit, either in single player or four-player co-op (For those times when beating up peaceful critters requires a bona fide gang).
Along with being in 3D and featuring ever-changing dungeons, Gates to Infinity will also utilize the 3DSí camera, granting access to new areas by scanning real world round objects.
Look for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity to hit retail and the Nintendo eShope on March 24. For more details, head to the gameís official website.
