Electronic Arts is apparently looking to revamp some of its long-neglected franchises. They recently filed new trademark registrations for classic games Populous, Theme Park, Wing Commander, and Road Rash.

The paperwork was spotted by superannuation. As I always say when one of these registrations are spotted, this doesn't necessarily mean that these games are in development. It at least suggests Electronic Arts is toying with the idea, though.

I suspect most of you are familiar with flight sim franchise Wing Commander. I'll briefly explain the others. Populous was a god simulator/strategy game series created by Peter Molyneux and Bullfrog Productions. Bullfrog also developed Theme Park, an amusement park management sim. Road Rash was a motorcycle racer in which players attempted to knock their opponents off their bikes and evade the police.
