Pottermore Conjurs Up Some Fun On PlayStation Home
Good news for all of you Potterheads out there who also happen to own a PlayStation 3. An extension of the interactive Harry Potter experience known as Pottermore launches today within PlayStation Home.
PlayStation Home keeps surprising me with their licensed locations as of late. Visitors to PlayStation's virtual world last week got to experience time travel and Tardis exploration with the release of a Doctor Who collection. This week, it's an adventure to the magical world of Harry Potter.
PlayStation Home Platform Group Producer Daniel Durnin made the announcement official this morning on the PlayStation Blog, saying that everyone is now welcome to explore this latest free branch of the Home experience where the world of Harry Potter comes to life on the PlayStation 3.
“Over the last two years, we've been working closely with the Pottermore team to take that unique online experience one step further,” Durnin said. “Taking inspiration from the Pottermore universe, we have developed fully-realised 3D environments packed full of mini-games and activities, allowing you to step inside Pottermore in ways never possible before now.”
Durnin goes on to refer to this area of Pottermore as the team's “first release,” most likely meaning that even more content is on the way. For this first outing, however, players will be able to explore Diagon Ally, take part in a book wrangling competition, ride the Hogwarts Express, compete in wizard duels and more. You'll also be able to dress in the garb of your favorite house, of course.
