We know it can be hard for a gamer to put down the controller, even if it’s in order to become a more well-informed voter leading up to the Nov. 6 presidential election. Thankfully, the Xbox 360 will be offering the best of both worlds tonight, allowing everyone to watch the verbal throwdown between current President Barack Obama and POTUS wannabe Mitt Romney WITH a controller in hand.
In order to take part in this evening’s Xbox debate presentation, all you need is an Xbox 360 and a Gold membership. Once 9 p.m. Eastern rolls around, just tune in and enjoy the show. And like I said, you might want to keep that controller handy. Throughout the debate, you’ll be able to take part in live polls about the debate, the candidates and their responses to various questions. Results will also be broadcast live, giving everyone a better idea of what truly matters to their fellow gamers in the upcoming election. Tonight’s debate will be the first of a series of four leading up to the election, all of which will be broadcast in a similar fashion through Xbox Live. This actually seems like a pretty cool outreach to get gamers more involved in the political process. The Wii U looks to offer similar functionality with TVii in a couple of months but, while I would much rather just enjoy my favorite shows instead of taking part in polls, answering questions, etc., the presidential debate feels like exactly the right time and place for such technology to be implemented.
