While it's still in its pre-alpha state and constantly growing, the latest build of Project CARS has found its way online featuring the newly implemented dynamic weather effects. Gamers will get to see the transitory state of weather, lighting and rain effects in the latest community made game trailer. With the settings set to ultra you can see the performance of the game take a major hit, which I suspect Slightly Mad will be addressing.
I like how Project CARS is aiming to become the new visual benchmark for PC graphical excellence...sort of like the new Crysis except it's not from Crytek, it's from Slightly Mad Studios. There are still some obvious flaws in the game's graphical systems given that it's in pre-alpha. There's still some pop-in that needs fixing and some particle effect balancing, but otherwise the game is looking marvelous. The clouds constantly moving and morphing look really good and the water reflections and car traction in result of the rain is showcased beautifully. Early on the AI gets into a big scuffle and it looks pretty neat seeing an entire wheel bounce down the track after a big collision. Check it out below. Project CARS is an indie project being funded by Slightly Mad Studios and the gaming community at large. Racing fans looking for a deep simulation game with amazing, hardware-murdering graphics will probably be pleasantly surprised with Project CARS. The game is scheduled to launch next year for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii U.
