Radical Entertainment took a real big risk switching lead protagonists in their open-world action franchise, Prototype. To help hone in on the kind antagonistic tension that new lead character James Heller will have towards the old lead character, Alex Mercer, Radical and Activision released a new trailer called "Homecoming".

The trailer itself is more like a brief playback narrative leading up to the demise of Heller's family. The plotline isn't a simple A to B story and there's some real emotional baggage attached to the Heller character that will make for an interesting confrontation with the mutant prototype from the first game, Alex Mercer.

Personally, Prototype 2 looks like a mediocre game, however the story could be a real saving grace because I'm very, very interested to see how this whole rivalry between Heller and Mercer will play out. I just hope Radical doesn't pull any punches because Prototype 2 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting plot-driven action games released in a very long time.



Pretty intense, eh? Well what's more is that you can start counting down the days until the game releases, as it's set to hit a retail shelf near you for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC starting April 24th, 2011.
