Resident Evil 6 Disc-Locked Content Discovered, Capcom Responds

Remember when Capcom said after Dragon's Dogma they would stop using disc-locked content? Effectively, a method that enables them to store expansions and add-on content into the retail disc for gamers to pay-to-unlock at a later date? Well, turns that sucker has been discovered on Resident Evil 6's disc.
What does the DLC entail? Just a character and a new difficulty mode, according to Original Gamer. It's tame compared to Street Fighter X Tekken.
Nevertheless, Capcom revealed months ago that they would aim to curtail their use of on-disc DLC. While fanboys rallied that disc-locked content makes it easier to download (and by all means what kind of idiotic excuse is that?) even the company, Michael Pachter and majority of the gaming community agreed that it was something that needed to be changed.
After the videos surfaced of the on-disc DLC thanks to modder Fluffy Quack, Capcom was pinged for a response, and according to Now Gamer, this is what Capcom had to say...
"We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months and while virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc."
Majority of what Fluffy had to show off can also be unlocked by actually playing the game, which is a good thing. Some of the content in the videos he uploaded is strictly DLC, though.
Capcom is in the rare position of an AAA publisher who now has to watch every step they take. They've been trying to repair their image by admitting that they want a lot of money and that they'll do everything they can to milk their franchises in a much more community-affable way.
Realistically this disc-locked content isn't that bad (so far) compared to some others *cough*Risen 2 *cough* Mass Effect 3 *cough*, but it's still a sure sign that companies just can't give up the sweet, sweet, financial aroma of DLC.
