If you thought the DLC train started and stopped with pre-order bonus packs for Resident Evil 6 you haven't been reading enough articles about Capcom. The company has confirmed that following the October 2nd release of Resident Evil 6 the game will have a bevy helping of post launch DLC, including maps and modes.
As stated in the official press release...
Available as downloadable content, three new gameplay modes will expand on the multiplayer elements available in the retail version and deliver new and exciting ways to enjoy the world of Resident Evil 6.
I have no idea who would be able to beat the game several times over, unlock all the retail content, play the multiplayer modes and still crave additional content directly after the game's release, but for content consuming completionists, the post-launch DLC will include three new modes as detailed below.
Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins.
Well at least Capcom was planning ahead, right? Am I right?
This should really come as no surprise to anyone given that DLC is the money train that never stops chugging. It's fueled by the coals of greed and makes stops at the game-hungry stations of content-deprived consumers so that it never ever stops running.
Additional DLC items will also arrive but have not been announced yet. New maps will also be available for Mercenaries mode that can also be played in Survivors mode. More details on these will be released as Resident Evil 6 draws nearer to release.
