The fight to save humanity continues in the latest game collection headed for the PlayStation 3, this time featuring the battle with the Chimeran invaders in the Resistance Collection.
Perhaps best known for their work on the Ratchet and Clank series, the team at Insomniac Studios decided to do something a little different with their second set of games for the PS3, trading in the bright colors and goofy antics of Ratchet and his trusty robot companion, Clank, for a violent, desperate struggle against an alien invasion in the Resistance series.
While a release date has not yet been announced, Sony has announced through the PlayStation Blog that the Resistance Collection, which pulls together all three Resistance games and their online components, will go for the low-low price of just 40 bucks.
According to the announcement, the collection will also include the “best DLC” from Resistance 2 and Resistance 3, including a few map packs and some additional skins to help make your character stand out on the virtual battlefield.
In Resistance, silent hero Nathan Hale is on the front lines of the fighting in the opening days of the Chimeran invasion on planet Earth. Vicious monsters, the Chimeran forces grow stronger with every city they take over, as any captured humans can actually be transforphed into one of their numbers. So, not only are these dudes killing us with crazy alien technology, but they're also basically space zombies. Lovely!
Resistance 2 brings the fight to American soil with Hale and his elite team of ass-kickers trying to defend the U.S. of A after the fall of Europe.
Resistance 3 takes a decidedly more somber tone. Humanity has all but lost their struggle with the alien threat and when Joseph Capelli gets separated from his family, he'll stop at nothing to be reunited wit the ones he loves.
So there you have it. Three pretty epic stories, all for $39.99. Look for the Resistance Collection to hit store shelves in the coming months.
