Retro City Rampage Video Plays Homage To Classics

Vblank has provided the world with a closer look at their 8-bit Grand Theft Auto-style game. Old-school gamers should have fun watching this new gameplay footage, as it's filled with a number of references to classic games.

Retro City Rampage puts players in the role of a petty criminal. They must perform missions for the Jester, a criminal mastermind. Players are also free to roam the city and explore.

Metal Gear, Mega Man 2 and Duck Hunt are among the games referenced in this footage. There are plenty others for you eagle-eyed readers to find. Retro City doesn't simply allude to other games and call it a day, though. The gameplay itself mixes elements from 8-bit era titles. While the game is driven by nostalgia, the developers are crafting a new experience from all of these little bits of games they clearly adore.

Vblank plans to release Rampage sometime this summer. PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita versions are planned.
